A powerboat skipper in his late 50's is out for a blast on the first fine day in spring. He's screaming up the harbour and is still clocking 45 knots well into the “no-wash” zone.

A Maritime Services officer risks life and limb by blocking the channel and stopping the speedboat.

The officer looks at his watch and says: "My shift has ended, today is Friday and I'm taking off for the weekend. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."

The man looks very seriously at the officer and replies "Years ago, my wife ran off with a Maritime inspector and I thought you were stopping me to give her back."
